What to expect

Calderón Hondo, with its 278 meters of altitude, is one of the most accessible and scenic volcanoes on the island. From its summit, you can admire the perfectly preserved crater, the dunes of Corralejo, and even the coast of Lanzarote on clear days.

Along the trail, you'll cross a lunar landscape of lava flows and ancient volcanic chimneys — a geological spectacle unlike any other.

How the experience unfolds

At the agreed time, we’ll pick you up from your hotel in Corralejo, Caleta de Fuste or Antigua. Alternatively, you can reach the starting point at the foot of the volcano on your own.

We’ll begin a hiking route of about 10 km, with a total duration of 3 hours. We’ll walk through volcanic landscapes and lava emission points, accompanied by an expert guide who will share geological insights about the area.

Once at the summit, we’ll take a break with a light snack: energy bar, fruit, and mineral water. Then we’ll enjoy a stunning panoramic view before starting the descent and concluding the excursion.

Those who chose the transfer will be taken back to their hotel.

You will visit the spectacular Corralejo dunes, the famous Sotavento beach, the Ajuy caves, and the Betancuria Rural Park, the island’s former capital. You’ll pass through traditional villages, scenic viewpoints, and areas rich in history.

How the experience unfolds

We’ll pick you up between 9:00 and 9:30 from your hotel in northern Fuerteventura. The first stop will be the Corralejo Dunes Natural Park, where you can take breathtaking photos. We’ll then continue along the coast to Sotavento Beach, with a 45-minute break to relax.

Next, you’ll visit the village of Pájara and then Ajuy, known for its black sand beaches and pirate caves. Here you’ll have an hour and a half of free time for lunch.

In the afternoon, we’ll cross the Betancuria Rural Park, admire the Las Peñitas canyon, and stop in the village of the same name for a 30–40 minute visit. The excursion will end with a stop at the Los Reyes Magos viewpoint and a drive through the surroundings of La Oliva, before returning to the hotel around 5:00 PM.

You’ll depart from your hotel on the eastern side of the island and, after about 45 minutes of travel, reach the Arco del Jurado. From there, a gentle trek will begin, leading you to the Ajuy Caves. You’ll walk among ancient volcanic formations and spectacular landscapes until you reach a truly evocative sunset. The evening will end with an optional tapas dinner at a seaside restaurant.

How the experience unfolds

At the agreed time, we’ll pick you up from your hotel in the eastern tourist areas (Antigua and Caleta de Fuste). We’ll head to the west coast, reaching the Arco del Jurado, where a 4 km trek (easy) will begin.

Along the way, you’ll walk among 150-million-year-old volcanic rocks and recharge with an energy bar, fruit, and water. The trek will end at the Ajuy Caves, where a stunning natural show awaits: sunset over the sea from a breathtaking volcanic landscape.

Afterwards, we’ll take you to a local restaurant where you can enjoy a dinner with tapas and a drink. If you choose the no-dinner option, you’ll have free time before returning to the hotel, expected after about 5–6 hours.
